Rock Mechanics Testing Equipment
Electromechanical Direct Shear Test Machine
Model: EDS-010 · Elipslab
Compliant with
▪Used for determining the direct shear and friction strength of specimens.
▪Provides precise and stable shear and friction motion through its electromechanical loading system.
▪Ensures smooth and vibration-free operation at low speeds.
▪Suitable for shear testing under constant or controlled normal load conditions.
▪Enables high-precision measurement of shear force and displacement parameters.
▪Supports Method A and Method B test modes in addition to conventional direct shear tests.
▪Compatible with various shear box and specimen configurations (optional).
▪Operates with a data acquisition rate of 6 readings per second, providing 0.001 mm resolution in both vertical and horizontal deformation measurements.
DIRECT SHEAR TEST
▪Used for determining the shear strength and frictional behavior of specimens.
▪The test is performed by applying a controlled shear load along a predefined shear plane.
▪During the test, shear force and corresponding displacement parameters are measured with high precision.
▪The procedure enables evaluation of peak and residual shear strength characteristics.
▪Test principle in accordance with ASTM D5607 depending on specimen material and configuration.
METHOD A → EQUIVALENT TO MULTI-STAGE SHEAR PROCEDURE
▪In Method A, the test is performed without resetting the applied load conditions.
▪Successive test stages are conducted while maintaining the existing normal and shear load state.
▪This procedure allows continuous evaluation of shear and friction behavior under uninterrupted stress conditions.
▪Equivalent to the Multi-Stage Shear Procedure (ASTM D5607-16).
METHOD B → EQUIVALENT TO SINGLE-STAGE SHEAR PROCEDURE
▪In Method B, the test is performed without resetting the applied normal (vertical) load.
▪The normal load is maintained, while the horizontal displacement and shear load are reset prior to the subsequent test stage.
▪This procedure enables evaluation of shear and friction behavior under constant normal load conditions.
▪Equivalent to the Single-Stage Shear Procedure (ASTM D5607-16).Used to cut core samples.
